Fourth of July Safety!

Fourth of July can be an overwhelming experience for our dogs and other pets. Some things you can do to make it a better experience –

Create a designated quiet space in your home where your dog can retreat when the festivities become too much. If your dog is crate trained, this can serve as a comforting spot, especially with the addition of calming white noise from platforms like YouTube or music apps.

To help your dog expend some energy before the fireworks begin, consider engaging them in a walk, enriching puzzles, or practicing their training exercises—activities that not only provide physical exercise but also mental stimulation.

Additionally, please take a moment to check that your dog’s identification tags are updated and securely fastened; it’s crucial to remember that more dogs go missing on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year. We wish you and your pets a fun and safe holiday, and if you need any personalized guidance or support, don’t hesitate to reach out to the High Expectations team!

Community Manners Club

Community Manners Club is open to anyone who has completed a class with us! Each week, we’ll meet at a different park in the Camas/Washougal area, giving you and your dog the opportunity to practice skills in a variety of real-world environments.

Because every location presents unique challenges and distractions, there is no set curriculum for this club. Instead, we ask that you submit your specific training goals before each session so our trainers can help you work on what matters most to you and your dog.

This is all about training in the moment. From passing dogs and people to playgrounds, wildlife, picnics, and unexpected distractions, you never know what opportunities for learning may arise. Community Manners Club is a great way to build reliability, strengthen your dog’s skills outside of the classroom, and gain confidence handling real-life situations together.
